The engines are already warming up for the twentieth edition of the Lucca Film Festival with the launch of the 3 International Competitions on the FilmFreeway and FestHome platforms.
For the Feature Film Competition, 12 films will be selected and will continue the tradition of presenting the best international, independent, and auteur cinema; the 2023 edition saw the triumph of the Chechen film “The Cage is Looking for a Bird” by Malika Musaeva triumph, and the selection team, coordinated by Stefano Giorgi, Martino Martinelli, and Mattia Fiorino, is about to choose the best international works produced between 2023 and 2024.
The International Short Film Competition, curated by Laura Da Prato and Dario Ricci, will reach its 20th edition in 2024 saw an astonishing participation in the recently concluded edition, with over 600 works from around the world and the victory of “The Lost Ox“, a poetic debut film from China.
The Lucca Film Festival for Future continues, the contest dedicated to short films born in collaboration with Sofidel, a Tuscan company among the world leaders in the production of paper for hygienic and household use. In its second edition, we address all young authors intending to tackle the theme of safeguarding the future, both from an environmental and social perspective, promoting the spirit of “Clean Living.” Curated by Leonardo Galeassi, in the last edition, it recorded a total of 256 submissions from all over the world. A jury composed of representatives from the 10 Festivals of the “Film For Our Future” network will select the finalists in competition during the festival days.
The participating works will compete for the awards for Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, and Best Green Work, awarded by three juries composed of prominent names in the film industry, for the awards of the Student Jury, the Popular Jury, and the Marcello Petrozziello Award, given by the Press Jury.
The registration deadline for the 3 Competitions, available on the FilmFreeway and FestHome portals, is open until July 15, 2024 for Short Film and until July 31, 2024 for LFF for Future and Feature Film.
