Registration open to participate in the International Short Film Contest of the Lucca Film Festival and Europa Cinema 2017
Deadline to submit works is Monday, 20 February 2017. Winners to receive prizes in cash.
Registrations are open to enter works in the International Short Film Contest of the Lucca Film Festival and Europa Cinema 2017 taking place from the 2nd to the 9th of April in the Tuscan cities of Lucca and Viareggio. Over the years, the film festival – organized in collaboration and with the support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca – has welcomed and hosted international acclaimed film directors such as David Lynch, George Romero, Terry Gilliam, Alfonso Cuarón and William Friedkin. Committed to enhancing contemporary and experimental productions since its very beginning, for the 11th consecutive year the Lucca Film Festival confirms its historical section dedicated to the short film competition, but with a novelty: a € 500 prize in cash for the winner. Those interested in entering the competition must submit their works by 12 a.m. (midnight) of Monday 20 February 2017. Films chosen by the selection committee will be included in Lucca Film Festival’s programming and evaluated by a jury made up of cinema and academia experts.
Every year, more than 300 short films are submitted to the selection committee for consideration, with famous names competing as well as in the case of Adan Jodorowsky, the son of the famous Chilean artist. Although the leitmotif of the contest is experimentation, there are no boundaries of genre or topic. The only limit? A maximum duration of 29 minutes. Participants must submit their works either in physical copy (DVD, Blu-ray, USB key) via snail mail at the following address: attention Rachele Pollastrini – Via dei Cucchi 275 – San Pietro A Vico 55100 Lucca (Italy), or in the form of links to competition@luccafilmfestival.it . Each participant may submit up to four works; entry fees are € 10 for 1 short film, € 15 for two, € 25 for three and € 30 for four. The selected short films will be announced by 10 March 2017 via e-mail and on the www.luccafilmfestival.it website, and will be screened in cinemas during the festival.
The Lucca Film Festival and Europa Cinema directed by Nicola Borrelli, is one of the key events organized and sponsored by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca. Thanks also to Istituto Luce – Cinecittà, Trenitalia Regional Management, Unicoop Firenze and to the Degree Course in Performing Arts and Civilization Department of Communication and Forms of Knowledge at the University of Pisa for their collaboration.
